i was listening to a sermon by Pastor Joseph Prince on the way to the country.
and i totally agree with what he said.
human brain is divided into what-if's and if-only's
its because..
half of the time, people ask themselves..
"what if i don't pass the exam.
what if i don't go for the lecture.
what if my boyfriend is cheating on me.
what if... what if... what if..."
and the other half of the time, they ask themselves..
"if only i had gone to that dinner.
if only i had done better.
if only i am richer.
if only.... if only... if only..."
what if's are worrying about the future.
and
if only's are regretting about the past.
why worry about the future when you not there yet.
and
why regret about the past when its behind you.
don't live tomorrow today.
don't live yesterday today.
live today today.
it really woke me up! all these time i have been worrying soooo much and regretting soooo much about things yet to happen and things i have done.
just enjoy what's in front of you now.
and also i have something to share. well, its not really related to the sermon above, but somehow related. its also about making full use of 'today'.
A creed i got from a course i went to.
A New Day
This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use I will. I can waste it- or use it for good, but what I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it! When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something that I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, and not loss; good, and not evil; success, and not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price that I have paid for it.
totally agree!
life is definitely too short for worries and regrets.
